Putting Faith into Practice and Hearing the Word

James teaches believers not only to hear the word, but also to put it into practice; otherwise, they are like someone who looks at themselves in a mirror and immediately forgets what they look like. He emphasizes that true godliness is to look after orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world, and warns people not to show favoritism based on outward appearance.
