For forty days, morning and evening, Goliath, the Philistine giant, came out to challenge Israel, but no one in Israel's army dared to face him. The young David came to the camp at his father's command to bring food to his brothers. When he heard Goliath insulting the army of the living God, he volunteered to fight. He took off the king's ill-fitting armor and carried only his shepherd's staff, sling, and five smooth stones. Trusting in God, he went to face Goliath. One stone struck Goliath in the forehead, and the giant fell. The Philistines fled in panic, and the Israelites celebrated their victory.
In life, we also face difficulties that seem as huge and frightening as Goliath, such as a very hard exam or a new environment that scares us. David did not rely on a sword or ill-fitting armor. Instead, he trusted in God and courageously used the sling and stones he knew how to handle. True courage does not guarantee that we will succeed immediately every time. It means continuing to trust in God when we are afraid or facing difficulties and faithfully doing what we can right now.
