After Solomon became king of Israel, he led the Israelites to Gibeon to offer sacrifices because God's tent of worship was there. That night God appeared to him in a dream and invited him to make a request. Solomon did not ask for gold, a great palace, or to live forever. Instead, he asked for wisdom so that he could know what was right and care for God's people. God was pleased with his request and gave him not only wisdom, but also wealth and honor. Later, Solomon used the wisdom God had given him to help the people.
